Pray for Samuel...
Our kitty, Samuel, is in the kitty hospital tonight and will most likely be receiving a blood transfusion before the morning is over. He's very sick. Please pray for him, because we love him and he is part of the family.
So, Samuel is home today and seemingly doing okay. He's still pretty lethargic (but I think that's mostly from the kitty drugs), but it doesn't seem to be in that "I'm not moving because I can't move" way. Last night he couldn't move because he was so terribly anemic. Apparently, his fleas were much more uber-bad than we knew (he's got some seriously thick fur, y'all), and they had literally almost sucked all of the blood right out of Sam. He very nearly died. He needed an IV so he could be rehydrated, but they had to do that uber-slowly so as not to give him too much liquid which would have thinned his remaining red blood cells out too mcuh and would have killed him. They gave him a transfusion this morning. Please keep praying for him that he fully mends. We'd be heartbroken to lose him.
Also, please keep us in your prayers as well. Sam's medical bills came to about $850, and we were only approved for $500 in the vet credit thingy (which was a God-send, as we'd have had to put him down otherwise). Needless to say, things are being juggled right now and we're trying to stay ahead of everything and take care of this too.
He's doing better--much better, actually. He seems to be gaining some of his strength back, and he's eating and drinking regularly, too. I don't think his sister likes the way he smells while he's on his medicine, though, because she keeps hissing at him when he gets too close to her. This is very strange for her, because they've been the best of friends since we brought them home together. She hasn't tried to swipe at him or anything, but she'll hiss or growl a little and then she'll run off all mad while he stands there looking perplexed.
*sighs*
That and Samuel doesn't seem to want to hang out in any of his former "favorite places" anymore. He used to spend every evening sitting with my dad or on the back of the couch, and now he's always either sitting out in the laundry room window or on the counter beside the bathroom sink. Or in the tub, but we're trying to get him to stop doing that since he keeps trying to lick the soap scuzzies off the sides after anyone has had a shower. :~/
I dunno. Hopefully things will be "normal" around here again soon!
Well, as "normal" as they tend to be where my family is envolved...

Thanks guys, we really appreciate it! God bless!
Aww, poor kitty. How is he now?
