*Sighs*

Life is...strange. You may think you know exactly what's going on one moment--exactly what to expect--and in the space of time it takes to draw a breath in it can all turn upside-down and inside-out. And when you come to that moment, it changes you but you're never entirely sure how. You don't know what to think, what to say, how to act, or what to feel. You find yourself asking, "Is there really any hope?" when you're mind says there isn't but your heart refuses to give up so easily. Surely there must be some other explanation, some other reason for why things appear the way they do.

But in the end, who really knows what's going to happen? Who really knows why this one lived and that one died? Who but God Himself can know what goes on behind the scenes of our lives? And who are we to doubt His wisdom?

*sighs* I find myself in a comtemplative mood tonight, mostly because I'm thinking about Scott and Sandy--two of my dearest friends. They were married in late September, and found out just last month that they were pregnate. She was roughly eight weeks along when they went in last Friday for the first ultrasound, but the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat. They've told her to expect to miscarry before next week is over. They are two of the sweetest people you ever hope to meet, and they wanted this baby more than you can imagine. I just don't understand why this should be their burden when so many people who neglect their children suddenly find themselves with one more and couldn't care less.

Pray for these two friends of mine--they're grieving right now quite a lot. God knows what He's doing, but that never makes it any easier to bear the things that come our way in life...
